Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 – Western Australia’s Waste Strategy
The Western Australian Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 was released in February 2019 and has three key objectives:
- waste avoidance,
- increased recovery of materials from waste and protection of the environment, and
- human health from the harmful effects of waste.
It sets ambitious targets for the year 2025 and the year 2030 in the three areas of waste avoidance, resource recovery and environmental protection, including a key focus to reduce waste disposed to landfill.
The Strategy recognises that individuals, governments and industry all generate waste and can play an important role in avoiding waste, recycling and disposing of waste correctly to protect the environment.
