Biodiversity Credit Exchange
The Biodiversity Credit Exchange gives eligible landholders access to funding for the purpose of protecting, managing and restoring areas of high conservation value on their property. The payments to landholders incorporates the incurred costs of protecting areas of native vegetation and generates a biodiversity credit. The credits are sold at cost to buyers that are required to offset vegetation clearances in the same region.
The program is expected to provide better on-ground conservation outcomes as landholders derive an income from their conservation activities.
